A Real Audio recording of Diane Way telling this story.
Oral Tradition, the first form of literature, is the
traditional way of passing on the stories, lessons and histories
of our peoples. The Internet is a new way of passing on the old
stories, and in fact Diane first saw this story in text form on
the Internet. It is an Ojibwe story that was posted by Charles
White Dog to an American Indian mailing list in 1995. Diane has
added her own touches, as all story tellers do, and presents it
here for your enjoyment.
