1996 SACRED RUN NEEDS HELP!

The mission of the run is to raise awareness about the state of the environment and to preserve indigenous peoples' wisdom and lands. The Sacred Run, organized by Dennis Banks, began in March in southern California and will culminate July 11 at the Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.

The runners come from all over the world. They are taking the southern route, which will take them through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.

As the runners arrive in various towns and cities along their route, they are being supported by local people, organizations and businesses. But, in many locations, they have no contact for this support.

Needed support includes: lodging for the night, showers, potluck meals, water, juices and sports drinks, fresh fruits and vegetables, donations of gasoline, oil or money, running shoes, and media coverage. Sometimes there may be the need for medical or physical theraputic attention.
